It’s time to look back on the most excellent Piictu streams of 2011. Crafting this list was difficult so we started (what else?) a stream to help us pick the best of the best. Then we revisited some staff favorites and tallied up the votes.
Did your favorite stream make the cut?
10. Hurricane Irene
From the first rain drops in Virginia to the aftermath in Vermont, Piictu users chronicled this fierce storm in a gripping set of real-time images.
Part ice-breaker and part confessional, Five Facts became one of the best places to learn about the people whose photos you’d been loving. It also made us realize what a diverse community we have!
Started by Thazsar, this stream inspired us to contradict years of being told that pointing was rude.
We admit that we had a soft spot for this stream, given the prompt. But the way people reacted creatively to Toni's prompt was unexpected and kept us smiling for weeks.
In this incredible stream, artist AndrewMitchell sketches an image of his social media friends, including and especially his friends on Piictu.
The line goes ever, ever on.

Easily one of the year’s most flirtatious, this stream had us all looking down. It was also one of the year’s most popular streams, with over 1200 photos from 950 users, and 13,000 (!!!) likes.
The most fun you can have with money, without spending it.
Our Stream of the Year was easy to do but infinitely open. You can squish anything after all! Even when you can’t touch it or reach it. That’s the power of clever photography!
