From the way you share - to who you share with, we’ve reworked the social dimensions of Piictu. We’ve got totally new privacy options, next-generation discovery features, and a set of slick design updates that will have you saying “Saul Bass.”
We’ve got a new interface
Piictu is now simpler and more focused, so you’ll see more piics and less buttons.
On the Piics tab, content is grouped for the first time with a single image showcasing the content of an entire stream. Beneath each image you’ll see a set of tiny avatars: these are your Piictu friends who are participating in the stream. Finally, you can immediately reply to a stream by tapping on the new reply icon.
On the activity tab, you will notice new groupings of notifications. We wanted to trim down the noise so you could hear what really matters: new streams started by friends and their replies to your images!
Discover the best content
We have integrated a smart algorithm that pushes trending content into a slick new “discovery” tab. You’ll also find more content that’s relevant to your network.
With sections of bright banners denoting the hottest content on Piictu, you’ll never miss contests, viral streams, or breaking news items. Further down, you’ll also find new sections called “Staff Favorites” and “Trending.” These are dedicated to office favorites and surging photo streams respectively.
Share and Invite
We made sharing on Facebook and Twitter better than ever, so you can “share the love” when the moment is right.
Images shared to Facebook and Twitter now display natively. So the world can take a peek at all your hot Piictu action, even if they don’t have an iPhone.
Want to hide from an ex? You can now block users from seeing or interacting with any of your content.
This was something people have asked for directly, and we’re thrilled to offer it with this update. Just tap the “don’t” (as in smoking) logo on the user’s profile who you want to block.
What are you waiting for? Piictu 1.<3 is better than ever, so get it now.
Italian iPhoneographer Nicola Guida has brought a distinctive style to his Piictu images. Composing entirely on his iPhone, Nick cycles images through series of apps to generate just the aesthetic he desires. Inspired, we reached out to @kcinoi to learn about his approach to iPhoneography.
What led you to photography? When did you start?
I always been fascinated by the process of image-generation, since I was a child.
There was some kind of magic in it, and when I was visiting tourist places, the most wonderful souvenirs were, for me, those small plastic fake cameras with pictures inside. I could spend days playing the photographer.
Later, I had possibility to use a AGFA 110 film camera, I used it for a while, until, at school, whena I was 16, I discovered that there was a photo lab in the basement. Someone lent me a reflex camera, a Cosina, with a crack on the glass of the viewfinder, a creepy 50mm lens, and everything started for me.
That was a great opportunity to understand how to take a picture and how image is created.
For a teen with some interaction problem was a good way to express his thoughts, and of course, a good excuse to take girls to the darkroom..”come downstairs after the lessons…I’ll show how I’ll print your portrait…”
It is an exciting opportunity to connect our global network to environmental issues through photos. Because an image can speak across nations and language barriers, we know the Piictu community presents a great opportunity to honor nature and the budding green economy around the world.
To keep up on all the action, log in to Piictu and follow the @WorldEnvironmentDay account. It will be hosting streams and contests examining how we all interact with the natural world. Some will be funny - such as this stream imagining what the environment would tell us if it could speak. Other streams will ask how you save energy and resources, focusing on the impact human consumption plays on our environment. The contest prizes will be first rate, and as a Piictu partner, contests will score you featured positions on Piictu’s Facebook page and blog!
So start thinking about the world around you, and how you see it. Sharing your view on the environment is what World Environment Day is all about.
