Piictu Profile: @Qoop’s OBENTO!

Qoope is a Japanese office worker, currently living in Tokyo, Japan. Several times a week, Qoope shares his lunches in a Piictu Stream called, “Today’s OBENTO, thx Honey!”. These lunches are perfectly boxed together, often with cuts of fresh fish, vegetables, and rice. Since we’ve been salivating over the entire stream, we decided to contact Qoope to learn more about the dish.

I was wondering - are these Obentos made for you by your significant other?

These obentos are made for my lunch by my wife every morning.

What goes into an obento box so that it’s obento (and not another Japanese dish?)

“Bento” means a Japanese style lunch box or its contents, but not limited to Japanese dishes. Italian, Chinese, French, etc. can be made available. The “o” is attached to the noun, because it is polite in Japanese, o-bento. What made you want to document your meals in a stream?

To record my lovely wife’s beautiful work.

Piictu Profile: Esque by @LesliePennel

Leslie Pennel’s fashion designs, which are at once loose and contained, strike the typical fashionista as an immediate must-have. After seeing her work in the @Piictu Project Runway challenge streams, it was apparent she was showing off her collection. Her clothing is simply cut, styled and effortless, but the bold, black and white patterns cause heads to turn.

Leslie was kind enough to answer the following over email.

What do you think is the most important piece in a women’s wardrobe?

The most important piece for a woman’s wardrobe is something basic that you can throw on for any occasion and carries over well from day to night just by changing your shoes and accessories, and can also work for the office by adding a nice blazer or cardigan.

I make a piece that’s wonderful for that - it’s a solid color convertible maxi tube dress that can also be worn as a skirt.

There are so many options for this piece. For a casual daytime outfit, I’ll wear it with a skinny colorful belt, red cowboy boots, a yellow vintage hat, Prada white framed sunnies and pig tail knots. For the office or a night-time look, I’ll wear it with a black skinny belt with a gold clasp, gold jewelry, black suede booties, a black 3/4 length sleeved blazer and some Prada specs.

You’re from Arkansas? Do you still live there?

I do. I live in Fayetteville, AR - a very community-oriented, organic-food loving, vintage-wearing, artsy, college town in Northwest Arkansas. I’ve lived here all of my life, except for a two-month college internship in Europe. My home base while I was there was in Edinburgh, Scotland and I stayed in London for a couple of weeks while I was overseas.

Which photo/design on Piictu is your favorite? Do you have a favorite design?

That’s so hard to answer! How about I give you my two favorites:

I love the black and white striped mermaid skirt with the red crinoline peeking out underneath. I love the shape it gives a woman’s body. It really shows off her curves. I also love the way it moves and swooshes effortlessly with each step she takes.

I am also in love with my classic polka dot maxi. It’s just beautiful and timeless.

Latex Spacespace - Found on Piictu

“I work at a hardware store / builders supply and while tinting latex paint bases to the colors specified by my customers, I started noticing that many of them presented wild and strangely beautiful “other-world” type landscapes or space-scapes prior to shaking them up. So, I started capturing images of the ones I like with my iPhone camera.”

We’re so glad you did. They’re really gorgeous shots.
